Thirty years ago, Ilchi Lee has chosen “Ilchi” as his name following a spiritual experience that changed his life. His name “Il-chi” means one and finger. “Ilchi” is referred to the pointing finger or index finger that indicates pointing the way wherein in “the way” is referred as “Tao” which is considered as the core of oneness. Ilchi Lee, bestselling author, great teacher, and magnificent philosopher had been a great inspiration to people all over the world.
Ilchi Lee, born in South Korea and was raised of family of educators had serious learning disabilities during the time of Korean War. He may have finished high school but he never got the chance to enter college because he failed to pass his college entrance exam. Because of this unfortunate event, his father blamed himself for not effectively educating his son that pushed him for early retirement.
Ilchi Lee was indeed discouraged about his father’s early retirement until he was able to seek an opportunity to do something about it. He started removing the bank of garbage in the main bridge of his own town. He then carried the garbage in the field of pumpkins to serve as fertilizers. He shared the pumpkins later on with his neighbors. Because of this wonderful experience, Ilchi Lee was awakened of the life-changing potential of work, the pride of sharing what he has to others, and the value of contributing.
Having experienced that life changing event, Ilchi Lee started to run regularly. This had helped him to concentrate on his studies and improve his concentration. Because of his hard work, Ilchi Lee was able to finish a degree in college in Clinical Pathology. While he was training in the study of mind-body practices and taekwondo, he opened a practice in clinical pathology. Soon he became interested in the relationship between stances and certain postures and their reaction on the body.
Ilchi Lee in his early youth began forming questions about his existence and its true meaning. Because he was not satisfied with intellectual answers, he then learned that gaining a sense of peace and centeredness is through training his body. To seek answers to his questions, he climbed mountain Moak in South Korea during the summer of 1980. After meditating and fasting for 21 days he finally found the answers about the meaning of his existence.
He came up with an innate understanding that the brain was directly related to his experience and that it could be shared to others. Aside from that, Ilchi Lee saw that the condition of the world is greatly affected by the state of human consciousness and our choices plays a big role of what our world would be like.
From then on, Ilchi Lee dedicated his time and effort in teaching others about making choices and how powerful it is and that it starts in our brains. So he came up with several books where he shared his thoughts on how to choose the kind of life we want. After that, Ilchi Lee bestselling author became an inspiration to many.
